Show Zoologist Uses 'Hoppers' In Heredity Research MANHATTAN, KAN. Grasshoppers Grasshop-pers are just a plague and a nuisance nui-sance to most people, but to Dr. R. K. Nabours, head of the zoology department de-partment at Kansas State college, they are a definite boon. Dr. Nabours goes in search of new specimens nearly every year, and so far he has collected more than 600,-000, 600,-000, which he has used in his studies on heredity. Most zdologists use fruit flies for heredity studies. Dr. Nubours says, but he prefers small grasshoppers, which multiply almost as fast as the fruit fly. Dr. Nabours is working on the problem of changing the hereditary characteristics of animals. |
