Show Down but Not Dunked; One Tar Takes 3 Nazis LONDON. Vice Admiral Sir Geoffrey Geof-frey Blake told the story of a naval gunner and the "rather peculiar circumstances" cir-cumstances" in which he captured three Nazi airmen in the middle ol the Atlantic. The gunner's ship was sunk by German bombs, said Sir Geoffrey, but during the fight the ship's guns brought down a plane. Floundering in the water after his ship had gone down, the gunner hauled himself aboard what he took to be a raft. Instead, he found it was a rubber dinghy from the German Ger-man plane with the crew of three aboard it. They handed over their guns at once, the story continues, and surrendered. A passing ship later lat-er picked up all four. |
