Show Large Sum Needed for Boyce Memorial Ten thousand dollars is being collected from the scouters of the United States toward a memorial to be erected in honor of William D. Boyce, the man who brought scouting to America Each scout-er scout-er in the Salt Lake Council is asked to donate from ten to twenty-five cents toward raising the quota. The memorial will" commemorate com-memorate the way scouting was brought to America. Mr. Boyce 'was visiting London and becoming lost in a fog he was conducted by a boy to the address he desired. When the boy refused a tip, and said that scout' do not accept them for good turns Mr. Boyce inquired about the Erithish Scout Organization. He studied the plan as outlined by Lord Baden Powell explained it to other men in this country and they formed the Boy Scouts of America. William Boyce was the second person in the United States to receive the Silver Buffalo, an award given by the national council coun-cil for distinguished service t boys through scouting The mom-orial mom-orial will be erected in the eastern part of the country and the nam- es of contributors will be placed in a box and cemented in at the time of dedication.
