Gerard, financier finan-cier and brother of James W. Gerard Ger-ard former United States ' Ambassador Am-bassador to Germany. Gerard says he grub-staked Scotty for $10,000 in 1902 and therefore is 'entitled to a percentage of the fortune, which Scotty is supposed t0 have wrested from the rocks of Death Valley and which is supposed sup-posed to have supplied the money for his $2,281,000 desert castle.
