Culp, chairman of the Salt Lake City, war price and rationing ration-ing board to exchange their old type B and C coupons which expired ex-pired on Wednesday, September 1, for the new type coupons at 'once. "Some motorists may not be aware that the old type B and C j stamps cannot be honored by service ser-vice ctations either because they have not tried to buy gas in recent re-cent days or because they have been using their A coupons which are still valid," the chairman sard. I Car owners need only to take their old coupons to the board of-. of-. fice where the' exchange can be quickly made, it was said. Those who are about to run out of their B and C coupons may make renewal re-newal application at the same time. I Also, outstanding 100-galIon bulk coupons, issuance of which was discontinued on June 15, became be-came valid on September 1. The chairman pointed out that the new coupons provide space on the front for writing in ink the license number and state or registration reg-istration which must be done immediately im-mediately after they are received by the motorist This indorsement on the front is more conveinent for all concerned than the old system of endorsing them on the back, he said. Old type B and C coupons are identified by the words "Permits delivery of one unit of gasoline." (New type B and C coupons can-y only the words "Milage Ration," plus a large letter B or C depending depend-ing on the class of ration. B coupons, cou-pons, as in the past, are printed in green ink, and c coupons in red. The board chairman reminded stove distributors and dealers in the area that today is the last day which they may register with the local rationing board. The new stove rationing regulations require re-quire that this be done on September Sep-tember 1, 2, or 3. The armed forces need more beef than ever and it is said 45 percent of the total beef production produc-tion is going to that source. But despite this we have a paradoxical paradoxi-cal situation in that there are more cattle than we have ever had and less meat in the butcher shops. A larger slaughtering program pro-gram i3 needed immediately to (1) create larger meat supplies promptly, and (2) avoid a congested con-gested market later in the year when everyone just before winter win-ter will undoubtedly try to sell down to what available feed supplies sup-plies will carry through the winter. |
