Show 32,737 Tons of Scrap Collected A new high of 32,737 tons of industrial scrap was collected in five Rocky Mountain states during dur-ing August, Elton S. Boerstler, regional industrial salvage chief of the War Production Board, reported re-ported this week. "Industrial scrap collections in the five states are now 49 per cent of the regional quota for the last half of 1943," Mr. Boerstler said. Salvage managers of private industries in-dustries throughout the region are to be commended for outstand ing service to the salvage program pro-gram in the last 60 days. Mr. Boerstler revealed that 70 per cent of all industries in the five states have appointed salvage managers to bring about conservation conser-vation methods and to initiate salvage sal-vage programs within their individual indiv-idual plants and companies. One third of the nearly 1,200 industries in-dustries in the five Rocky Mountain Moun-tain states now are reporting their progress every month to (he regional offices of the War Produc tion Board, it was stated. "Industry's outstanding salvage collections are attributed to the work and interest of the region's industrialists who have appreciated appreciat-ed properly the urgent need for heavy scrap." A . |
