Show C. A. Husbands Announces Candidacy Clifford A. Husbands, who has announced his candidacy for the City Commission, was born in Salt Lake City, and attended the j public schools and the University of Utah. He enlisted in the Air Corps, in January 191S. After his training, he went overseas, and. was stationed at an Air Port in i France. He was discharged in July 1 1919. Upon his return to civilian life, he entered the employment of Salt Lake City Corporation in August, 1919, with the City Board ofHealth, leaving there to take a I position in the finance Department. Depart-ment. He has been employed by the Salt Lake City Water Department, Depart-ment, holding various positions, for the past 12 years and at present pres-ent is Pay Roll Clerk. He has been active in Veteran's , affairs, having organized the Su- i gar House Post No. 65, of the American Legion, in 1939 and was the Commander for 15 months. During this time he helped raise funds to help purchase the second iron lung, which was placed in the County Hospital and is being used during the present epidemic. Through his efforts, as Chairman Chair-man of the scrap and metal drives, driv-es, a good many tons of vital mat erial have been placed in the hands of our government, for its war needs. He is chairman of the ! Legion's $4,000,000 bond drive, for the Third District, which includes includ-es Salt Lake, Tooele, and Summit counties. r As District Commander, he attended at-tended the National Convention of the Legion at Kansas City, Mo. and served on the committee which recommended that Congress Con-gress change the Charter, in order or-der to permit the veterans of .World War 2, to become members.
