Show SUGAR HOUSE DOLLAR DAYS FRIDAY AND SATURDAY Friday and Saturday of this week will mark another big shopping event in the stores and shops of the Sugar House area. It's Dollar Days again sponsored by the Sugar House Chamber of Commerce and its 200 members. President Joseph Chandler and Retail Trades Chairman, Stephen C. Richards announced that a host of wonderful bargains have been ecpecially priced for this community-wide sales promotion. Sugar House is the hub of the population center of Salt Lake City and its many firte mercantile establishments make shopping out here a real pleasure with plenty of parking and a "Come as You Are" atmosphere. i """'" Salt Lake Elks Lodge No. 85 made the Washington Birthday Visitation to Denver Lodge No. 17 taking their 30 piece marching band. They left via the D & R G W railroad Friday at 5 p.m. the band in full uniform being one of the highlights of the affair. A band program was played at the station in Salt Lake 30 minutes prior to train departure. Enroute the train stopped at the towns in Utah and Colorado where other Elk Lodges turned out to greet their brother Elks and were serenaded by the band. The train arrived in Denver" at 8 a.m. Saturday morning and led the procession from the station to the Denver Lodge Hall. A fine program was arranged by Denver Lodge for the day, with the band playing a concert at the hall. Other Lodged around the Denver area were' visited and the No. 85 group, after a very busy Saturday and Sunday entrained for home at 5 p.m. - - to arrive back in Salt Lake Monday morning at 8 a.m. The No. 85 band is a picked group of CO musicians who have a long record of experience. Last summer the group entered the Helldorado Days Celebration at Las Vegas, and expect to again repeat this year. Concert:; at the Veterans Hospital have been played by the band. They put on a program at the. AAU Boxing moat at the Fair Grounds, appeared at the Ball Game f'.r the Elks Lodge, made the Murray Parade, The Pioneer Day Pnrade and the Bountiful celebration parade, and gave concert for Purple & White day at Lagoon. The Denver trip under the direction of Frank Nelson, Past Exalte .1 Ruler o? the Elk:? Lodge No. 83. Present Exalted Ruler is Alton J. "Tommy" Thompson. Approximately 125 members of the lodge oUi-r than the band attended the visitation. The band is under the direction of Col. Lee R. Weeks, an accomplished musician of long experience. Pand manager, Jack-Smith, Jack-Smith, handles the busine:-; negotiations for the band. |
