Richards At Home In Mission Home Home again and renewing friendships after a three and a half years absence are President and Mrs. Lorin Richards, Sugar House residents for 25 years, w;ho have recently returned from pre-siding over the Great Lakes Mission. Wayne, Indiana, the Great Lakes Mission headquarters, the couple were asked by the first presidency of the church to preside in the mission home in Salt Lake. So it was not long for the Richards in their own home for a mission was awaiting them once again. Dr. Richards practiced dentistry Well known in the vallev and in Sugar House 26 years after he opened hi3 office in October 1920. The couple with their family have seen the community grow from a pioneer settlement to the present prosperous and expanding business and residential section of the valley. Mrs. Richards assisted her hus-band in his office and also served on the general board of the Primary for six years with three years cf that time in the presidency. Since returning home from Fort the Sugar House area they were asked many times then Dr. Richards would open his office again. Due to these many requests the Richards plan to be in their office at 1056 East 21st South, where he has installed the latest in dental equipment. Appointments may be made by calling IN7 3451. Dr. Richards was active in the Sugar House Rotary Club and other civic and church organi- zations during the years in the community. ... m " ! t Tennis Play-Of- f Set For August Salt Lake City will be the scene for the 1037 championship play-offs in the National Public Parks Tennis Tournament next month. Champions of public park tour-naments throughout the nation will compete in this playoff for top pubparks honors beginning Aug 10th and running through Aug. 25. This year's national tournament, directed by Harry James, 22-5- 6 Berkeley St., Sugar House, is sponsored by the Salt Lake County Recreation D'pt.. and the Inter-mounta- 'n Tennis Assn. Jarr.es said a new catagory has been added to the regular classi-fication. It will be the singles and doubles for veteran men. All men who will be 45 years of age this year are eligible to compete in this classification. Tournament headquarters will be on the University of Utah where on the University of Utah campus. Tournament action will be at the Liberty Park courts. Housing will be available this year in Ballif Hall and elsewhere on the University of Utah campus. Rooms will be available for as low as $1.00 per day on the campus, with rooms in Ballif Hall costing S2.20 per day. In addition to the action on the courts, entertainment is arranged for the national visitors. In-cluded will be an outing, free movies, tour of Salt Lake City and a visit at the famed LDS Temple Grounds, stock car racing, banquet and a baseball game. J x ' s f - - . Her true queenly character and attributes were maintained thro-ough-o- ut the stormy contest on the coast proving to the world her true beauty and grace. The nationally acclaimed beauty was first named queen in the Sugar House Centennial April, 1901 and front there Mi3s Sugar House has gone a long way. At the University of Utah she won honors in drama and was chosen queen in many functions, in 1955 phe was named "Days of '17 Queen" as Utah recognized a queen and to-da- y she represent the nation. Sugar House is proud of it's centennial queen. Improvements Made In Parking Lot On Center The Simpson Avenue Shopping Center parking lot has been given a new look with the removal of one rail road track, with space being made ready for planter boxes and other means of beautification. Light poles have been given new-attracti-bases and new brick curbing has been added. The track removal has made for a much safer walk between the center and tho Penney ar.d Grants Stores. |
