YOUTHS HONORED La Sertoma Club of Bountiful recently honored three students from south Davis County high schools for outstanding service to their community. Virginia Hill, right, awarded certificates to Julie Christian, Bountiful High; Rebecca Woodworth, Woods Cross High; and Mary Jensen, Viewmont High. the elementary schools in the area, participated in Santa Aid project. JULIE helped in the flood and mudslide clean up last year, has worked with the Bountiful area handicapped, performed in piano recitals since the age of six, was hostess for the Festival of Trees, involved with the Utah Heart Association, the Bountiful High Newspaper staff and the Bountiful High Dance Production. The La Sertoma Club is proud of these young people and the service they have performed for the good of the community and their schools, and takes pride in honoring honor-ing each one of them for their service ser-vice to mankind. The La Sertoma Service Club of Bountiful, recently honored three youths for outstanding service rendered ren-dered to their community and schools at a Freedom Banquet held at the Servus Drug. SERTOMA stands for "Service to Mankind" and derives its name from the beginning letters of those words. Each year the ladies auxiliary auxili-ary of the Sertoma club honors a person or persons for their service activities. The youths honored this year were Mary Jensen from Viewmont High School, Rebecca Woodworth from Woods Cross High School and Julie Christian from Bountiful High School. They were each given an award and a $50 savings bond by chairman of the Youth Service Award Committee Virginia Virgi-nia Hill. MARY Jensen served with church groups cleaning trash along the side of the roads, participated in Santa Aid program, sponsored two young men from the Special Olympics, and served as a tutor for the special Education Students at her school. Rebecca Woodworth performs with a singing and dancing group at showers, restaurants, parties and wedding receptions, participated with Santa Aid program, teaches 40 piano students who perform at the Primary Children's Hospital and nursing homes, belongs to the school's Acappella and Madrigal Choirs. REBECCA served as student-body student-body academics vice president, and as Senate President, is a member mem-ber of the National Honor Society, belongs to the Rifle Squad in the marching band of their school, is a Young Politicians of America Club member, belongs to the Woods Cross Key Club, a community service ser-vice organization. Julie Christian has worked several sev-eral years in the 4-H organization as leader and Junior leader, was initiated into the National Honor Society, has taught knitting to 4-H groups, and adopted an elderly widowed Bountiful woman as a grandmother, helping her in whatever what-ever way she could, was a member of the advanced dance program at the school performing at several of |
