Show ELEMENTARY SCHOOL A group of nine teachers from our school motored to Vernal Monday after school to visit the Field Museum for the purpose pur-pose of seeing the displays and hearing Mr. Untermann tell what he knew about the Central Cen-tral Utah Project. The teachers wanted to acquaint themselves with this in order to attempt to put over projects in their classrooms class-rooms on "The Colorado River Utah's Last Waterhole." After visiting the museum they enjoyed dinner at the cafe, arranged for by Mrs. Nyberg and Mrs. Mitchell. On - Thursday, April 5, Mrs. Mitchell's first grade presented the operetta "In the Land of Dreams Come True," at 11 a. m. as an assembly program. All members of the class had a part. They were assisted by our music - director, Mrs. Evelyn Schmiett. That same evening they gave a second performance for the P.T.A- meeting. In our 6th grade we have been studying forest conservation. conserva-tion. On our bulletin board we have an interesting display about it. We have it divided into three sections. The first one - is called. "What Good are the Forests." This display shows what things come from the forests, for-ests, and about the water supply and water sheds, about the different dif-ferent types and kinds of trees, grazing and vacation lands. The second group is called, ''How We Can Keep Our Forests." For-ests." This shows how to prevent pre-vent water erosion, floods, and how to keep the forests by replanting re-planting and not cutting down so many trees in one place. The third group is called, "How Forests Are Destroyed." It shows the most important thing of all how to prevent forest fires. It also shows what happens to the birds and animals ani-mals when fires come to the forests, and what floods and erosion do to destroy the forests. for-ests. Besides this we have a sand table display of a forest. It consists of a sawmill, vacation lands, water supply, and trees of different kinds. With our bulletin board and sand table display we have learned a great deal about the forests. We want to encourage people to strive to keep our forests and to take care of them in the right way.
