Show Union High Losing Commercial Subjects Teacher Union High School is losing its commercial teacher, Marion L. Harrison, and may have to drop the courses because no replacement replace-ment has been found. Mr. Harrison Is resigning to enter government employ at Ft. Duchesne, Union Principal Loman Hutchings said. - "Mr. Harrison is One of the outstanding teachers at Union or any school," Mr. Hutchings said. "We will miss him both as a. teacher and as a faculty associate."' A member of the Union faculty for five years, one year less thart the school has been ' organizad, Mr. Harrison teaches Typing I ani II, Shorthand I and II and book- '; keeping. Mr. Hutchings said the school has checked all possible sources, including teacher placement bureaus bur-eaus in surrounding states, and no commercial teachers can be foun. The state requires a minimum of 90 hours- college credit for a teaching certificate, accompanied by appropriate training in any special subject to be taught. Mr. Hutchings said the teacher shortage now is at its worst stage in modern history. |
