Show Mrs. Elsie Bird belief Society coIcls Conference Relief Society conference was held Sunday, Oct. 25, with President Pres-ident Gladys Ross conducting. The theme was "Worldwide Sisterhood." Sis-terhood." Interesting stories of the work of the Relief Society in other countries were given by Bessie Lusty and Ida Hor-rocks. Hor-rocks. Testimonies of how their grandparents joined the church were given by Golo Jensen, Verna Lusty, Marion S. Shields and Cecelia Gilbert. Betty Evans Ev-ans read the song, "One World" and Norma Hansen sang it as a solo. The Relief Society sisters sang, "I Will Thank Thee O Lord." Mrs. Cecelia Gilbert and Mrs. Marion S. Shields represented the stake Relief Society. Donna Ross and Cleo Holgate attended a Hallowe'en party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Mecham in Mt. Home, Wednesday Wednes-day night. Mrs. Margaret Ross underwent under-went surgery on her shoulder, . i again last week in Salt Lake City She remained there 'until Saturday, when Mr. Ross went to Salt Lake to bring her home. Pvt R G. Ross arrived home on a week furlough. He has been stationed in Fort Ord, California, Cal-ifornia, and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Ross. He will report on Nov. 12 at Camp Kelmer, New Jersey. Miss Pauline Larsen, who is attending school at the BYU m Provo spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Milt Lynn Lamar Ross attended a Hallowe'en party at the home of Don Winterton on Wednesday Wednes-day night. I MIA HAS PARTY Tuesday night the MIA sponsored spon-sored a Hallowe'en party. The hall was decorated to carry out the Hallowe'en theme. A spook alley and fortune telling were the main interests. Almost everyone ev-eryone were in costumes. Prizes were given for the three best, to Hale Holgate, Lois Terpen-ing Terpen-ing and Gam Gilbert; the booby prize went to James Larsen and Donna Larsen. The evening was spent playing games. Apple cider and doughnuts were served. Wednesday, the Primary held! a Hallowe'en party. The afternoon after-noon was spent playing games. Puffed rice balls with suckers and apples were served. Mr. and Mrs. Horace Chatwin and son, Junior, went to Provo, Tuesday, to attend funeral ser-j vices for Mrs. Guy Wilson, of Seattle, Wash. They returned home Saturday. Mrs. Ora Holgate spent Monday Mon-day at the home of her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Emery Nielson, of Myton. Mrs. Nielson is able to be around in a wheelchair. Deon, Delaine and Mildred ' Bird attended a bridal shower, Sunday evening at the home of Mrs. S. F. Mortensen for Miss Shirley Meyer. Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Bird, Deon and Mildred Bird visited Sunday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Emery Nielson in Myton. Mr. and Mrs. Garn Gilbert, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Gilbert, Mr. and Mrs. Chad Evans, Mr. and Mrs. Marion Ross, Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Bird, Mr. and Mrs. James O. Larsen attended the meeting and social at Duchesne Saturday night. A large crowd from here attended at-tended quarterly conference in Duchesne, Sunday. Mrs. Rose Gilbert and son, Larry, moved during the week to Roosevelt, where they will make their home for the present. pres-ent. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Gilbert and son are moving over to Wintertons', where Howard will be employed. Mrs. Leo Johansen, of Bridgeport, Bridge-port, Wash., visited during the week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hale Holgate. Mrs. Johansen Johan-sen is Mrs. Holgate's sister. She also isited her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Emery Em-ery Nielson, at Myton. Weekend visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Hale Holgate were Mr. and Mrs. Silas Ross, of Castle Gale, and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Hatch and children, of Vernal. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Ross and sons, Larry and Lanny, spent Sunday evening with their daughters, Mrs. Arlene Labrum and Mrs. Shirley Mecham and families at Roosevelt. |
