Show School Bond Issue Approved, Results Of City Vote Given That the people of Duchesne County were in favor of the i $600,000 School Bond issue was' evidenced by the heavy majority I : of them that voted "Yes" on Tuesday of this week. A total of 1337 voted in favor of the issue and only 177 of them said no with their ballot. In the only contested city election in the Uintah Basin, the People's Party in Roosevelt elected their mayor candidate, Paul Murphy, and one councilman, council-man, E. Dwain Buchanan. The other council candidate who will be seated next January First was Floyd Peterson, a candidate candi-date on the Progressive ticket. Cliff Memmott was the lone aspirant for council on the People's ticket not to be elected. Defeated on the Progressive ticket were George Stewart, for mayor, and L. C. Labrum, for councilman. Voting in the election was very close, as slightly over 70 of the qualified voters of Roosevelt turned out to the polls to help select their city officials. Mr. Murphy polled a total of 295 votes and Mr. Stewart Stew-art 243. Voting on the four council candidates was as fol-follows: fol-follows: Buchanan, 318; Memmott, Mem-mott, 260; Labrum, 214; and Peterson, 279. (These figures are unofficial). In other communities about the Basin, all of which were uncontested, we find Duchesne again giving Mayor Otto John-sen John-sen a strong vote of confidence as 177 votes were cast in his favor. For council posts. Clifton C. Mickelson received 183, and Wallace Stephenson, 189. There were a few write-in votes cast. Sixty-one voters . gave Myton voters their incumbent mayor, William H. Linck, a total of 61 confidence votes, and 52 for councilmen, Herald Crapo and 62 for Milton Lott. At Altamont, Alta-mont, where the new incorporated incorpor-ated town was having its first election, LaFarge Dastrup receiver re-ceiver 29 votes for president of the board, with the two nominated nom-inated councilmen, Linden Farnsworth and Lindon Hansen receiving 30 and 32 votes respectively. res-pectively. There were several write-ins for the offices.
