Show CLIFF MEMMOTT, Editor THE ELECTIONS ARE OVER NOW IT'S TIME TO SETTLE DOWN TO WORK . . . Tuesday the people of the various communities in the Basin went to the polls to select city officials who will assist in administering their needs during the next four years. It is gratifying to learn that in spite of the fact that in all but one community in Duchesne County there was a "No Contest" election, the people responded to give a substantial vote of confidence to those who were willing to serve them as mayor and councilmen during the next four years. No doubt those elected feel elated in the knowledge know-ledge th'at they have the majority of the people solidly behind them.. In Roosevelt, where the only contest was held, the people spoke and selected three outstanding citizens who are possessed with progressive attitudes and who are willing will-ing to serve their community to the best of their ability. As in any contest wheTe two or more people compete for honors, only one' can be the winner and the others have to lose. In-as-much as your editor was one of those who did not win, I feel that I can voice the sentiments of the other of congratulation to the winners, and a feeling of hope two fine gentlemen who were defeated, by offering a word for the future of Roosevelt. So long as we live in this, or any other community, we have the responsibility of giving our time, talents and means to see that community move forward. Here in the Basin we stand on the threshold of a great future. . . In due time the great mineral and oil deposits will come into being and with the future bright for the Echo Park dam-site, dam-site, there is only one attitude we can consistently maintain and that is one of progress. This is my home all my worldly possessions are here in this great Basin, and so long as I live here and am physically able, I pledge to work for the development of Roosevelt, Duchesne, Altamont, and every other community in the Uintah Basin. . . The people spoke in Tuesday's election and the majority expressed themselves as to whom they wanted as their servants. . . I am thrilled that I can honestly rally behind those elected and give them the united support of the newspapers, whose future is dedicated to the program of this great area. v E v SCHOOL BOND ISSUE GIVEN ROUSING VOTE BY DUCHESNE COUNTY CITIZENS ....
