Show SCS Is Sponsoring Public Speaking Contest In Uintah Basin Districts A public speaking contest is being sponsored by the National Association i of Soil Conservation Conserva-tion Districts and the Spencer Chemical Co. of Kansas City, which will be open to all Uintah Basin Conservation District Co-operators Co-operators and members of their immediate families. The state contest will be held at Provo on Dec. 4 for winners of the district contests. Anyone from Duchesne and Uintah Counties wishing to enter en-ter this contest should, before Nov. 28, submit his name to Alden White, chairman of the Uintah Basin Soil Conservation District, Roosevelt. The district contest will be held in the Roosevelt L D S Churh at 1 p. m. on Dec. 1. Judges for .the district contest will be two' leading educators of the Uintah Basin, with Mr. White acting as a judge in case of a tie vote "The Job- Ahead in My Soil Conservation - District," is the subject for 'the public speaking contest. These talks are to cov-I cov-I er the following points, "My I district's accomplishments so far I on the land and in the hearts of I the people;" "The task aheid on the land and in the hearts of the people;" and "What is necessary neces-sary to complete effectively and auickly the job ahead in mv district." Grand prize to the winner of the public speaking contest if $1,000. plus an all-expense-paid ' trip to the national convention in Omaha on Feb. 3-4-5; plus a handsome certificate. Area prizes total $700.00 $100 for the winning talk in each of the seven national association as-sociation areas, plus a certificate. certifi-cate. State prizes are $75 for first place and $25 for second rating. In the district, prizes are listed list-ed at $25 for first place; $10 for second place, and $5 for third place.
