Show Uintah Basin Federated Women Meet At Fort Duchesne For Fall Banquet Ft. Duchesne Approximately'- one-hundred women from the seven Federated Women's Clubs in the Uintah Basin District attended the faill district banquet held Wed- nesday, Oct. 24, at the Ft. Duchesne Du-chesne Club Building. Presiding at the annual event was Mrs. Alvin Bowden of Vernal, district president. Also present and in the receiving line was Mrs. Lon Logan of Ft. Duchesne, state 1st vice-president. Two projects were adopted by the group for the ensuing year-one to send magazines overseas and the other to send nylon hose to Japan, a project also approved last year, which proved highly successful. success-ful. A letter was received listing the many, many items for which the ten pound's of nylon hose sent from this district had been utilized. utiliz-ed. Mrs. Dick Bastian, 1st vice-president vice-president of the district, and project pro-ject chairman, will be in charge of the two adopted club projects. Mrs. Logan led a panel discussion discus-sion on "Club Federation and its Importance," with the following panel members participating: Mrs. Asher Merkley, who presented the early history of the Basin district;. dist-rict;. Mrs. Jack Wallis, who spoke on the beginning of the General Federation; Mrs. Roy Showalter, who talked on conservation and the Youth Forest; and Mrs. Robert Morrison, who discussed the General Gen-eral Federation magazine. Reports were given from the various committee chairmen of the district. A delicious full-course turkey dinner was served by the hostess club, the Ft. Duchesne Women's I Club, headed by Mrs. Charles Carter Car-ter as president. |
