While Way Lights Go On Friday With Party, Sole Roosevelt's proud new "white, way" street lighting system will go on for the first time Friday evening, the event being occasion for a gay family night featuring free food and dancing, plus the start of a big "Opportunity Days" sale by Roosevelt merchants. Roosevelt's Commercial Club, City of Roosevelt and the state road commission will be hosts for the event, beginning at 6:30 on Lagoon street, which will be 'roped off at Main. Sponsor of the big celebration is the Commercial Club, which put up half of the money for the system, which cost about $15,000. The state paid half and the city supplied the men and trucks to erect the poles and install ..he lights. Will Flip Switch Horace Allred, past president of the Commercial Club will throw the switch to turn on the lights Lvnn Nickell, now president, will make the presentation and Mayor Murphy will accept for the city. A road commission representative is also to be on hand. A huge quantity of hot dogs, soft drinks, doughnuts and coffee will be served free by the Commercial Club to celebrate the s vent Finally, Tal Wardle's orchestra will play for street dancing for he whole family.
