Show I I School Board Oil's Calendar, '57 Teacher List Meeting of the Board of Education Educa-tion was held on May 10," 1956 at 10 a.m. with B. A. Jacoby presiding. presid-ing. Those present were Edwin L. Murphy, vice - president, M. A. Harrison, Nathan Allen, Supt. Rowan C. Stutz and C. C. Mickel-son, Mickel-son, clerk. Approval was given to the school calendar for the 1956-57 school year, setting the length of the school term to 174 days. School will begin Sept. 4, and will end May 22. The board approved the purchase pur-chase of 40 acres of Indian land adjacent to the Tabiona school from the' Indian Department at a cost of $5,480.00. : In order to provide an adequate water supply to the Tabiona school, the school district will as-sist as-sist the Tabiona town board in extending a 4-inch water line to the school. The cost of the project proj-ect will be shared on a 50-50 basis' by the school district and Tabiona town. The following custodians for the 1956-57 school year were given the okay: Alma Taylor, Altamont Elementary El-ementary School;, Ray W. Ham-berg, Ham-berg, Altamont High; Edward Kiel-basa, Kiel-basa, Duchesne High; Emery Tanner, Tan-ner, Myton; S. Gail Anderton, Neola; George Fenn, Roosevelt; Kenneth L. Hardy, Roosevelt Jr. High;. 'Clifford Van Tassel, Tabiona and Ralph Ivie, Duchesne Elementary. Elemen-tary. Student help for the custodians custod-ians at Altamont High, Roosevelt Jr. High and Roosevelt Elementary was also approved. Teachers Listed The following teachers were approved ap-proved for re-employment for the 1956-57 school term: Verona Goodrich, Good-rich, Zola Stevensen, Edith Burton Bur-ton Louise Bearden and Leona Swallow for Altamont Elementary. E. Don Nyberg, Birdie R. Swas-ey, Swas-ey, Opal A. Gomm, at Altamont High School:, Floretta Allen, Marie Murray, at Duchesne Elementary; Naomi Gilbert, Duchesne High; Millicent Thomas, Anna Michie, Dorothy Walker and Virginia Rob erts y2 day at Myton. Lillian Wilkerson, Lecta Hor-rocks Hor-rocks Y2 day at Neola; Rosella Johnson, Anna H. Buchanan, Inez Burgener, Roosevelt Elementary; Rhoda Rudy, Roosevelt Jr. High; Delsa Michie and Lucy Brown, Tabiona. The following new teachers were approved for employment: Sam Hemingway, Principal of Tabiona Tab-iona High and Elementary;. Mrs. Sam Hemingway, teacher at Tabiona; Tab-iona; Jesse Odell Smith, teacher at Roosevelt Jr. High for industrial arts; Valda, Massey, teacher at Duchesne for social science; Albert Kimber, teacher at Duchesne High for commercial subjects; Miss Dicia Emert, teacher, Myton Elementary, Ele-mentary, and Duane Houtz, teacher teach-er at Tabiona High, math and science. Summer Repairs Planned Supt. Stutz presented a proposed pro-posed summer program for the repair and maintenance for the school buildings. , This program was approved and will begin June 1. As required by law, Mr. Micke'-son, Micke'-son, clerk of the board, presented a financial report of all expenditures expendi-tures and receipts by account as of April 30, together with an estimate es-timate of receipts and expenditures expendi-tures to June 30. Supt. Stutz presented his tentative tenta-tive budget for 1956-67 school year as follows: estimated expenditures expen-ditures are $1,531,560, of which " " i I $745,000 is for the building program. pro-gram. It is estimated that the same local tax levy as was levied last year, will be needed to raise the necessary money. Secretarial help for the various schools for the next year was approved ap-proved as follows: Altamont schools, one full time; Roosevelt schools, one full time; Duchesne schools, one full time;, Tabiona y2 time, and Myton, 48 hours per month. |
