Show School Bells Ring School began Tuesday, Sept. 4 with Thomas Jeppson as. principal and the following teachers: Spencer Spen-cer Squire, Junior Hicks, Wilda Crumbo, Erma Anderton, Mary Burgess, Fawn Leavibt, Bernice Nelson, Hannah Richards, and Clair Hollingsworth; Agnes Walker, Wal-ker, Reva Hall and Ellen Bracken and Elroy Walker will, handle the kitchen duties. : Mr. and Mrs. Karl Lemon and family of Richmond were visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ercil Johnson, one day last week. Mr. Lemon is a brother of Mrs. Johnson. John-son. Mr. and Mrs. James Lewis and family of Bountiful were dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leland Angus on Saturday' Sept.. 1. Bishop and Mrs. Golden Collins took their daughter, Gay, to Ogden Og-den Tuesday morning to enter school after spending the summer months home. Azel Seeley of Salt Lake spent a few days here last week taking care of things on his farm. The Seeleys have traveled around quite a bit since they left Ballard. ' The improvement Era drive begins be-gins in the Ward Sept. 16. Each home will be canvased. TIME CHANGES With the begining of school primary will now start at 3:30. The winters work has begun. Mr. and Mrs. Mont Poulson, of Duchesne and Mr. and Mrs. Ar-den Ar-den Robbins of Vernal were visitors vis-itors ait the home of Mr. and Mrs. Karl Shisler on Sunday, Sept. 2. i Shisilers two small daughters went with their grandparents, the Poul- sons, to Duchesne for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Parrish and sons have been making quite regular trips to Salt Lake recently to visit Mr. Parrish's mother, Mrs. Phoebe Parrish, who is quite ill. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Bartletit and baby arrived at the home of Mrs. Bartlett's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Eldredge Sept. 1. Mr. Bartlett had just received his honorable hon-orable discharge from the service and is now teaching school at Whiterocks. Miss Sharan Rasmussen, who has been employed in Salt Lake during the summer months returned re-turned home the past week to enroll en-roll at Union High . Earl Rasmussen who has employment em-ployment at Salt Lake spent last week end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Farrell Rasmussen. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Allred and 'family made a trip to Vernal on business Tuesday and to visit Mrs. Allred's mother, Mrs. Ethel Bow-den. Bow-den. Mrs. Norma Moore of Salt Lake has been visiting her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Shanna Moore, at the home of Mrs. Eva Bellon. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Martin and family of Provo, have moved into the house north of the Basin Drive-In, vacated by the Harden Labrums recently. Mr. and Mrs. Herb Gates, of Nephi, were last weekend guests of their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Kine Hatch. Mrs. Burnell Buchanan and family fam-ily of Altamont have been recent guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alden White for a few days. Mrs. Clarence Betts and two daughters have moved back to their farm from Roosevelt. Mrs. Betts has been running the Roos evelt Hotel at Roosevelt for some time. Mr. Betts has employment in Colo. At present their son.Ray, is visiting home. Mr. and Mrs. Max Todd and two children were visitors last week . end with Mrs. Todd's parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Rex Gardner at Measer. Mr. and Mrs. Eric A. Stolla and daughter Clara made a trip last week to Salt Lake for medical care for Clara. Mr. and Mrs. Elmont Lemmon and family of Magna, visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Squire last week. WORK DAY HELD Work day was held at Relief Society So-ciety on Tuesday Sept. 4 and a quilt was made for Mrs. Von Has-lem Has-lem for her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Perry Bingham, newly weds. A delicious lunch was served at noon. |
