Show j Emergency Stock Feed Loans To Be Handled By F H A The disaster loan legislation sponsored by Utah's Congressman Congress-man Walter K. Granger, was signed by the President on April 6, and is is now known as Public Pub-lic Law No. 38. Under the provisions of the Granger Bill the Secretary of Agriculture has been given the power to make emergency loans direct to farmers and stockmen who are located in an area where the forces of nature have caused an agricultural production disaster. dis-aster. This legislation will prove to be important to a number of livestock producers in Utah where they have been hard hit by the recent winter blizzards. ' It is realized that total losses cannot be estimated until after the lambing season has passed this spring. "Undoubtedly many stockmen arc hard pressed financially finan-cially because of the high operation oper-ation costs they encountered during dur-ing recent heavy storms and excessive ex-cessive feed bills due to heavy supplemental winter feeding," Congressman Granger observed. It is believed that the credit needs of stockmen, resulting from winter losses, may be too heavy for private lending agencies, agen-cies, and so the stockmen will welcome the news that the necessary neces-sary machinery for emergency loans is now being set up by the Farmers Home Administration, under the provisions of the Grander Gran-der Bill. ' . . 4 Every effort is being made to have each local office of the Farmers Home Administration ready to accept these emergency loan applications by April 18. The local office for this area is at Roosevelt, and is under the direction of County Supervisor Gene Hansen. |
