Show Neola City News Section r' Relief Society Holds Celebration j Last Friday evening the Neola Relief Society held the annual celebration oi its birthday in the J Neola chapel. The time was , spent in dancing with a brief A program presented during inter-it inter-it mission. First counselor Amanda k' Henrie conducted the program. Parly Honors Service Men j Two parties have been held during the week, honoring ser-I ser-I vice men home on furloughs and those leaving soon for the armed ' forces. Tuesday evening of last week, a party honoring Jack An-dcrton, An-dcrton, who has been serving in the Pacific, Carl Mitchell, who was recently inducted, and five other boys from different towns who are in the service. A brief program was presented and the remainder of the evening spent in dancing. Last Monday evening a farewell fare-well party was given for Donald Jensen who will enter the service ser-vice the latter part of the month. A program and dance was given under the direction of the MIA. Community Club Reorganizes The Neola Community club held its annual election last week with the following officers being installed: President, Erma Hutcheon; vice-president, Lillian Wilkerson; secretary-treasurer, Sadie Blank. Scouts Enjoy Outing Fifteen members of the Neola Boy Scout troup enjoyed a week end trip to Salt Lake City and other interesting points in that vicinity. The trip was taken to enable the boys to pass their swimming tests, and the remainder remain-der of the time was spent in sight seeing. The boys left Friday and returned Sunday. They were accompanied ac-companied by Scoutmaster, Lee Wiscombe. Mrs. Marvin R. Mitchell spent a few days last week in Salt Lake where her son, Carl, was inducted into the service. Word has been received by Mrs. Herbert Anderton that her husband has arrived safely in the Aleutian Islands, where he is employed by the government. Sgt. and Mrs. James Horrocks and Mrs. Kingsbury of Austin, Texas, spent a few days here last week visiting friends and relatives while Sgt. Horrocks was on his furlough from Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. Hillery Workman, who has been employed in Salt Lake City for some time, returned home last week. Dick Bastian, who has been home on a furlough, returned to his base at Farragut, Idaho, last Saturday. Gordon Anderton and daughter, daugh-ter, Dorothy, spent the past week in Salt Lake. City visiting with Mrs. Anderton who is under un-der the doctor's care. Mr. and Mrs. Roger Horrocks and two sons of Salt Lake City spent the week end here visiting relatives and friends. |
