Show BASIN BRIEFS CONTEST WINNERS Winners in the Roosevelt Standard subscription contest are announced as follows: Rosan-na Rosan-na Hustead, daughter of Mrs. B. A. March, is winner of the bicycle bi-cycle with a total of 275 points. Hazel Fredrickson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Durell Fredrickson, wins the $15 cash prize with a total of 270 points. Arthur Cummings, of Los Angeles, An-geles, was a recent Roosevelt visitor. vis-itor. He was here to attend the funeral of Mrs. Oscar Allen,, and is now visiting with old Uintah Basin friends. Prior to returning to his home he will visit his brother in Denver. Mr. and Mrs, E. J. Nixon returned re-turned Tuesday from a 3-day J. C. Penney Co. convention held in Los Angeles. They were away a week. The Standard, two weeks ago, listed the special hunt on the Avintaquin as October 23 to November 16. We were in error. The dates are October 18 to October 28, the same dates as the regular season. Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Jones, of Vernal.visited Tuesday with Mr. and Mrs. Louis Corbridge, en-route en-route from the J. C. Penney Co. convention in Los Angeles. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Birt-cher Birt-cher and Levi Roberts, of Rig-gins, Rig-gins, Idaho, are visiting with friends and relatives in Roosevelt. Roose-velt. Mr. Birtcher and Mr. Roberts, Rob-erts, formerly of Roosevelt, now own a cafe in Riggins. Bishop Arthur Wiscombe, of the Ballard ward, has just received re-ceived word that his son, Raymond, Ray-mond, was made Bishop of the Richville ward .in the Morgan stake, effective last Sunday. Raymond Ray-mond Wiscombe, who served as boys athletic coach at Roosevelt High school last year, is now farming near Morgan, Utah, where he and his family moved at the close of school last spring. The Roosevelt Lions club were hosts at a zone meeting last Thursday evening in the banquet room of the Roosevelt Coffee Shop. There were 55 members in attendance from Heber, Duchesne, Du-chesne, Roosevelt and Vernal. Next month the Roosevelt Lions will be guests of the Heber Heb-er Lions at a -zone rrleeting to be held in Heber City. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Chamberlain Chamber-lain returned Sunday evening after enjoying the weekend in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Jordan and Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Marimon re- turned Sunday after visiting with j their children who are attending Wasatch Academy in Mt. Pleasant. Mrs. Phyllis Oberhansley her group of Indian singers will ; present her songs at the Daugb- ters of the Utah Pioneera Con. " vention which will be held iii Salt Lake at the Hotel Utah in connection with the General L D. S. conference this Saturday afternoon.
