Show Mail Route Opened To Local Bidders Sealed bids for the carrying of mail between Salt Lake City and Vernal will be accepted until 5:15 p. m., October 16, the Post Office Department revealed last week. The contract period is from November 18, 1947 to June 30, 1950, and calls for a run from Salt Lake to Vernal and return, once each day, seven days a week. The mileage, which forms the basis of all bids, listed by the Post Office Department as 192.52 from Salt Lake to Vernal. Contractors Con-tractors are cautioned to consider every item of expense or possible expense when they submit their bids. The contract regulations stipulate stip-ulate that a bidder must be a legal resident of the county or one of the counties traversed on the route. In this instance, legal residents of Salt Lake, Summit, Wasatch, Duchesne and Uintah counties are eligible for bidding. A bond of $6500, which must accompany ac-company the bid, is specified by the Post Office Department. Bid blanks are obtainable at the Roosevelt Post Office, and when executed must be sent to the Second Assistant Postmaster General, Washington, D. C. |
