Rigby To Address Graduates At Commencement Friday; Honor Students Named SIXTY-FIVE students from the class of 1947 will receive diplomas diplom-as Friday evening, May 16, at the annual commencement exercises exer-cises of the Roosevelt high school, scheduled for 8 p. m. in the Roosevelt ward hall. The senior students will complete com-plete their scholastic careers with a graduation program headed head-ed by Avard A. Rigby, who will deliver the commencement add-I add-I ress. I ::Y-.' h . A - -i- M-- Avard A, Rigby Mr, Rigby, well known Uintah Basin educator, was principal of the Roosevelt high school from 1942 to 1945. Prior to directing activities at the local school he served a year as principal at Altamont High, and after leaving leav-ing Roosevelt he spent a year with the U. S. Department of Agriculture in Salt Lake City. He makes his appearance before be-fore the 1947 Roosevelt graduates grad-uates as director of student personnel per-sonnel and adult education for the Uintah county school district with headquarters at Vernal. The Valedictory address will be delivered Friday evening by Robert Penfield, with Laurel Snyder appearing in the role of Salutatorian. Presentation of the graduates and the awarding of scholarship honors will be made by Principal J. R. Gillespie. Lionel Jensen, Duchesne county school board member, will award the diplomas. High honor graduates in the class of 1947 are: Bonnie Rae Hansen, Robert Penfield, Marilyn Mari-lyn Lambert and Laurel Snyder. Those graduating with honors include: in-clude: Jack Bacon, Dorothy Beel-er, Beel-er, Ronald Liddell, Boyd Lemon Betty Jo Sprouse, Wayne Timothy, Tim-othy, Alice Todd and Gale Wilson. Wil-son.
