Show - - BASIN BRIEFS The Roosevelt Jaycees will sponsor a public dance on the new tennis court Friday evening, June 3, to raise additional funds for completion of the project. This will be the first public dance to be held at the recreational recrea-tional center. Mr. and Mrs. Wcldon Richman moved their furniture into the Elmer Eldredgc house last weekend. week-end. They will move back to Roosevelt to make their home as soon as spring quarter is completed complet-ed at the University of Utah. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ferron and Bob Fejron returned Monday from a 3-week combined business and pleasure trip to New York and Chicago. Before returning home they visited in Rochester, N. Y. withf their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Tussler. Henry Crist, of New York, is visiting near Myton with Mr. and Mrs. Burton W. Goff. He arrived ar-rived a week ago Wednesday from Billings, Montana with the the Goff s son, Ray, who has been working there with the Price Oil Co. Phil Harrison suffered a slight concussion Tuesday afternoon when struck on the head with a baseball during a practice game at City Hall park. Mr. and Mrs. Evan Phillips motored to Springville and Salt Lake Tuesday on a combined business and pleasure trip. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Snyder left Wednesday for Medford. Oregon to deliver a load of furniture to Mr. and Mrs. Marion' Penfield, former Roosevelt residents. The Ladies' Aid Society of the Myton Presbyterian church will hold a bazaar and dinner at the church on June 2. Mr. and Mrs Martin Curtis, of Ft. Duchesne, left Monday to meet their son and daughter-in-law, Cpt. and Mrs. Elbert R. Curtis, who are expected to dock at Fort Mason, California on May 26. Captain Curtis is being transferred trans-ferred from Manila to the United States for reassignment after having completed a 2Vi year tour of duty in the Philippine area. Mrs. Curtis is the former Vera Johnston, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ren Johnston, of Roosevelt. Mrs. Dick Harsh and children motored to Murray, Friday, to spend a week with relatives. Wayne Malin and his son, Doug, drove to Salt Lake Friday to meet Mrs. Malin, who has been vacationing in California. The Roosevelt American Legionnaires Leg-ionnaires and their partners, as winners of the American Legion membership contest, were guests of the Vernal Legionnaires at a picnic supper at Merkeley Park Sunday evening. Mrs. Louis Corbndge and children, of Eureka, visited here Monday and Tuesday with friends while Mr. Corbridge attended at-tended a J. C. Penney Co. meeting meet-ing in Salt Lake City. The Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts of the Whiterocks boarding board-ing school, culminated their season's sea-son's activities, May 10. with 7 Cub Scouts being advanced to scouting, and 6 Den Mothers receiving re-ceiving training certificates. The Cubs who received their their certificates of graduation were John Adams, Clyde Tabee, Kenneth Santio, George Conetah, Vernon Jake, Lafayette McCook and Victor Gardner. Den Mothers who received training certificates from Alvin J. Duley, Cubmaster and teacher of the course, were Mrs. L. Mur-dock, Mur-dock, Mrs. R. Adams, Mrs. Frank Chamberlin, Miss Emma Jake, Miss V. Wimmer and Miss M. Anderson. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Sharpies were week-end visitors at the home of Mrs. Hammerschmid at Hancock Cove, and of Mr. and Mrs. Nile Gines, of Cedarview. Mrs. Wm. Hammerschmid wentj to Heber, Tuesday, to attend at-tend the funeral services for her nephew, Sgt. John R. Bell, who was killed in action in France during 1944. L. P. Anderle and Miss Charlotte Char-lotte Carter, Myton, left for Salt Lake last Tuesday. Mr. Anderle An-derle attended the annual convention con-vention of the Grand Lodge, Independent In-dependent Order of Odd Fellows and Miss Carter visited her sister in Pleasant Grove. They returned last Friday. |
