Show Boy Scouts To Assemble At City Park Friday for District's 1949 Camporee Boy Scouts from the Roosevelt district will congregate at the Roosevelt city park, May 27 and 28 for their 1949 Camporee. Registration Reg-istration of the Scouts who will take part in the two day affair will begin at 2 p. m, in the headquarters head-quarters tent. Actual camping practices will be followed with -Scouts laying out a site and pitching tents. Scout Camporecs are programs of camping on a patrol basis, and are so arranged that every patrol can participte in the activities. The program is competitive, with each patrol endeavoring to reach a high standard of camping efficiency. ef-ficiency. Patrol effort is measured meas-ured by a rating scheme which Includes patrol organization, camp layout, bedding' and shelter, shel-ter, cooking equipment, cooking and food preparation, fires and fuel, patrol moral and spirit, gadgets and demonstrations, camp fire stunts, quiet from laps to rcvellie, clean and orderly camp, and camp craft display. The Camporee is not a camping camp-ing experience, but a demonstration demonstra-tion of camping technique, methods, meth-ods, equipment, organization and leadership, Primarily it is designed de-signed to demonstrate and develop de-velop patrol ability from the patrol pa-trol leader through all patrol members. District Scout leaders have instructed in-structed all patrols to bring any special equipment for exhibition, such as knot boards, bridge construction con-struction and items of handicraft. handi-craft. All Scouts are urged to wear their uniforms, if possible. If uniforms are not available to every Scout, a troop neckerchief should at least be worn. Troop flags, patrol flags and any other Scout pennants .are to be brought to the Camporee and displayed prominently. |
