Show Mrs. Leonard Garvey and small daughter who live at Dallas, Texas, arc spending the summer here visiting her parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Sweat-man. Sweat-man. Her husband is in the armed arm-ed forces. Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Johnson of Lyman, Wyoming, were visitors visit-ors in Lapoint on Monday. Her mother, Mrs. Byron Goodrich of Vernal accompanied them here. . Mr. and Mrs. Charles F. Thur-son Thur-son and son, Duane of Ogden visited their daughter, Mrs, Ray Lee and husband during the week. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Thur-son Thur-son also of Ogden accompanied them here for a visit. Mr, and Mrs. Arcade Pierce and daughter of Salt Lake City visited at the. home of Mr. and Mrs. Rile Blackburn during the week and also attended the celebration held at JNeola on the 4th and 5th of July. Belle Angus of Vernal was a visitor in Lapoint on Monday. Mrs. Roxa Taylor received a letter from her daughters, Mrs. Clarence Jensen of Seattle, Washington, saying that her son, Kay was now home with them. Kay was a German prisoner for 2 months and was liberated when Germany sur-rendeded, sur-rendeded, The Jensen's were former residents of Lapoint; Mrs. Sadie By waters and daughter of Fort Duchesne visited visit-ed her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Zack Kump and sisters, Mae Warburton and O. Dean Cox Mr. and Mrs. Bob Reigan and son Bobby of Vernal visited her mother, Mrs. Annie Morcos and sister, Mrs. Dave Jenkins and family on Tuesday. Bob has been in China the past 2 years in the armed forces. He flew in a plane from China to India taking a boat to the U. S. He has a 30-day furlough, Mrs, Reigan was the former Flora Davis of Lapoint. Alonzo Marx and family of Salt Lake City visited at the home of Mrs. Eliza Nelson and other relatives here during the week. Bert McNeil of Vernal who is home on a furlough from the Navy was a visitor at the home of Charles Burton during the week. Mrs. Wanda Reddings and 2 daughters of Provo visited their grandmother, Mrs. Mae Sprouse and other relatives during the week. Mr. and Mrs. Hyrum Richardson Richard-son of Vernal were visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rile Blackburn Black-burn Tuesday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hacking of Roosevelt visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Hacking on Sunday. Their daughter, Lela accompanied ac-companied them home after visiting here the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Caldwell and daughter, Clifta also Travis Nelson and family visited Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Perry and Wayne Perry and wife at Meeker, Colorado, Colo-rado, during the week. Their I parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clair Burton Bur-ton joined them there and all enjoyed en-joyed the celebration held on the 4th. Ed Green and family of Salt Lake City and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hartle and daughter, Elna . of Bennett visited at the home of Kenneth Hartle and family Tuesday night. Mrs. Hartle and Mrs. Green are sisters. Rodney Horrocks and family moved to Vernal during the week so he will be nearer his work at the oil wells at Rangley. Marvin Smith, who is a Pilot on an airoplane and been station-led station-led in Kansas visited his father, Eli Smith and his sister, Mrs. Floyd Angus and family over the week end. Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Merkley and son who had employment at San Francisco, California arrived arriv-ed here during the week. Lyman will enter the armed forces soon. They are visiting her mother, Mrs. Minnie Reynolds and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bart Merkley at Vernal. Buck Rich, who has employ-1 ment at Nine Mile at Price visited visit-ed his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Rich during the week and was also one of the riders at the Neola celebration. Mrs. Beth Perry received a letter from her husband, Lyle Perry who is stationed on Okin-owa, Okin-owa, saying he was a Private 1st class now and was also a cook, j Preston Searlcs, son of Mrs. Sylvia Blackburn arrived home during the week for a 30-day furlough. Preston has been over seas for the past year and been in Germany and England. He took his basic training at Los Angeles, California. The Y M M I A was organized Sunday with Jerry Harrison as President and Thurmer Rasmus-sen Rasmus-sen as 1st counselor. ' ' Mrs. Elsie Procter and baby of Los Angeles, California, is visiting visit-ing her mother, Mrs. Carolina Thompson. She also attended the funeral of her father. George Thompson held at Salt Lake City last week. Miss Orloa Reynolds, daughter of Mrs. Minnie Reynolds and 'Laurence Woodard, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Woodard of Vernal were married at the home of her mother, Mrs. Minnie Reynolds. Bishop George R. Hacking officiating: Miss Reynolds is a graduate of the Alterra high school and very efficient ef-ficient in the field of music. He is a graduate of the Uintah high school in Vernal. He . is in the Navy and home on a . furlough from San Diego, California, where he has been taking his basic training. The bride wore a beautiful formal blue silk dress with a corsage of roses, and the groom his Navy uniform. He will return to duty at San Diego, July 12. Mrs. Lela Hullinger left Sunday Sun-day evening for San Francisco, California, to visit her husband, Orvel Hullinger who is in the Merchant Marines and stationed there waiting for a ship to sail. Harold Lundell of Vernal was a visitor, in Lapoint Sunday and was a speaker at Sacrament meeting. Jerry Harrison was the other speaker and a solo was rendered by Doris Huber accompanied accom-panied by Shirley Huber. |
