Show War Department Citation Awarded To Edith Preece For meritorious performance of duty. . Edith Nell Preece, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Preece, of Myton, was the recipient re-cipient of a War Department citation ci-tation awarded at the Presidio of San Francisco, November 11. The singular honor, uncommon among military citations, was bestowed by General Mark W. Clark, renowned World War II Commander, now Commanding General of the Sixth Army. The citation, recognizing Miss Preece's service, reads: "For meritorius performance of duty as Principal Clerk in charge of Promotion and Separation Sep-aration Branch, Personnel Section Sec-tion AG Officers Division, Headquarters Head-quarters 6th Army, Presidio of San Francisco, California from June 6, 1946 to September, 1947. Her outstanding loyalty, devotion devo-tion to duty and excellent knowledge know-ledge of regulations, policies and the many complex duties pertaining per-taining to promotions, demotions and separations have contributed materially to the successful operation op-eration of the Adjutant General's Office. She reflects high credit upon herself and the Department of the Army." Mark W. Clark, General U. S. Army Commanding 6th Army -Miss Preece, who has been visiting vis-iting with her parents at Myton, departed for San Francisco Thursday. From there she will transfer to Japan where she will serve as Principal Clerk, Person- I nel Section in the Air Force Di- j vision. Her departure for the ' Orient has been set for December Decem-ber 15, and her new assignment will necessitate her being stationed sta-tioned in Japan for two years. |
