Campbell, son of Mrs. Violet Bowden of Myton, enlisted enlist-ed in Quartermaster corps in November, 1910, going first to Fort McArthur, California. He was burned badly in October, 1942, but was able to be in active service again across the waters ; -.J : Fvt. Dean Dee Holder HARRY DEAN Private First Class, Harry Dean, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Dean of Gusher was inducted in-ducted in the Army infantry in February, 1941. He was sent overseas in the spring of 1942, Recently he sent the Purple Heart home to his parents which he received when he was seriously serious-ly injured in action while in New Guinea in January, 1943. He has been overseas a year and nine months and will soon have served three years in the army. DEE L. HOLDER Staff Sergeant Dee L. Holder husband of Barbara Holder, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Holder of Mt. Emmons, enlisted in the Air Corps in July 1940 at Salt Lake City. He is an instructor at William Wil-liam Field, Arizona where he has been the past months. II. Dennis D. Dennis HOWARD DENNIS Howard Dennis A-C, son of Mr and Mrs. Wallace Dennis of Myton and husband of Mrs. Edna B. Dennis passed his classification for piolot and entered pre-flight training the last of September. Howard was assigned to Civilian Piolit training in 1941 at the BYU in Provo. DANIEL S. DENNIS Daniel S. Dennis another son of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Dennis of Myton entered pre-flight training ofter receiving his classification classi-fication at San Antonio, Texas. He took a course at Oklahoma A C. M. college which consisted of Army Air Force instruction lasting five months. 'Pa Pa. HAROLD FREDRICKSON Technical Sergeant Harold Fredrickson entered the army July 1942, and was sent to Camp Carson, Colorado where he is at the present time in the office department. He was stationed at Las Vegas studing airoplane mechanics for some time and was then sent to Bur-bank, Bur-bank, California where he received re-ceived his technical training command com-mand certificate from the Lockheed Lock-heed Vega Service school November Novem-ber 23rd. He later reported at the Army Air Base in Salt Lake City. PFC. JACK BIRCIIELL Private First Class Jack Birch-ell, Birch-ell, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Birchell of Roosevelt was inducted in the armed service June 3, 1942, and was sent to Camp Bucker, Alabama and then to Camp Horn, Arizona where he is stationed at the present time. KTETH G. CASE Kieth G. Case, Son of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Case of Mt. Emmons was inducted as an Aviation Cadet in the United States Army in August, 1943. The Cadet served serv-ed as an L D S missionary in the Central States mission before induction. in-duction. CARL CLEGG Carl B. Clegg, son of Mr. and Mrs. Luke Clegg formerly of Roosevelt was inducted in the service in February, 1943 and was first stationed at Fort McClellan, Alabama. He graduated from Al terra High school in 1941. PoP3l RICHARD M. FERRON Second Lieutenant Richard M. Ferron, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ferron of Roosevelt graduated grad-uated from Field Artillery Of-ftcers Of-ftcers Candidate school at Fort Sill, Oklahoma on July 22, 1943. He was assigned to specialists course 'in communications at Fort Sill. Lt. Ferron spent a few days furlough home December 8, before receiving transfer orders. DALE B. DRUMMOND Dale B. Drummond, son of Mrs. John W. Drummond, formerly of Ft. Duchesne, is in the Armed forces overseas and was commissioned commis-sioned a 2nd Lieutenant in antitank anti-tank duty. Cpt. Curtis M. Curtis CAPTAIN ELBERT R. CURTIS Captain Elbert R. Curtis enlisted en-listed in the Utah National Guard on September 26, 19-10. Pie attended at-tended Officers Candidate school at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and on completion of this training he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant. Lieuten-ant. He took his basic training at Camp Kearns, spent 3 months at the Logan college and was then transferred to Santa Ana, California and classified as Pilot November 15, 1943. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Slarlcy Ross Df Arcadia and a graduate of the Roosevelt High school. RONALD BENSON Ronald Benson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Benson of Roosevelt enlisted in the army December 5, 1941 and took his basic training at San Diego, California. Hammerschmid, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Hammerschmid, Ham-merschmid, enlisted in the U S Marines on January 10, 1942, and received his basic training at San Diego, California and then sailed overseas March 9, 1942. LISONBEE Word was received from Private Pri-vate Calvin R. Lisonbee by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Lisonbee, Lis-onbee, that he has been confined to a hospital overseas for the past two months. ARMSTRONG Major Herbert C. Armstrong, son of Mr. and Mrs. C. M. Armstrong Arm-strong of Logan, was advanced to the rank of Major in September, Septem-ber, 19-13. He is stationed in the Hawaiian Islands, is a forestry graduate at the Utah State college col-lege in 1938. Mrs. Armstrong, the former Helen Rice and two children chil-dren returned to the United states shortly after the outbreak of hostilities with Japan in 1941. Pa' Pa P. F. C. Bracken Guy Bracken CPL GUY E. BRACKEN Cpl. Guy E. Bracken, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Bracken of Alterra, Al-terra, entered the service August 1, 1940. In September, 1941 he was transferred to Seattle, Washington Washing-ton for six weeks and from there he went to Anchorage, Alaska where he spent some time. For the past year his whereabouts in Alaska has been unknown to his parents, although his letters come quite regular. 'Pa Pa PFC KARL G. BRACKEN Pfc. Karl G. Bracken, oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. George Bracken was called into the service February Feb-ruary 14, 1943. Sergeant Frank Anderson, Ander-son, son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Anderson, enlisted in the Army June 7, 1941. He sailed for Alaska March, 1942 and was In the Quartermaster division for some time. He was then sent to William Beaumont general hospital for training as a Medical Technician and on Nov. 29th, he graduated from this course and made a Corporal Technician. Tech-nician. Broderick of Roosevelt. He went to Pennsylvania Pen-nsylvania to enter flying school in the fall of 1939, and then took up airoplane mechanical training before be-fore entering the service. LOUIS CORBRIDGE Louis Corbridge, husband of Mrs. Marva Corbridge, and has a son, Quin attending elementary school here entered the army in October, 1943, and was first sent to Ft. Douglas and later to Camp Barkley, Texas. He was former assistant manager of the local J. C. Jensen, carpenter's mate 3rd class, is in the Navy located lo-cated at San Diego, California, the son of J. W. Jensen of Myton, enlisted in August, 1942. He is a brother of Lt. H, Bert Jensen. DONALD MARSING Donald Ray Marsing, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. L. Marsing of Roosevelt began his basic training train-ing at Farragut, Idaho, August 1943. He was home on a furlough the last part of August. LYNN GARDNER Lynn Gardner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Gardner of Neola left in November, 1943 to begin his "boot" training at Farragut, Ida., in the Navy. I f ; Cpl. Bingham Jess Iorg CPL. LOWELL BINGHAM Corporal Lowell Bingham, son of Mr. and Mrs. Acel Bingham of Myton, Utah, enlisted in the 27th Infantry in October, 1940. He was stationed at Schofield barracks in the Hawaiian Islands for 27 months. He was then shipped to Guadalcanal when the army replaced re-placed the Marines there. He saw action December 7th at Pearl Harbor Har-bor and also at Guadacanal. JESS IORG Corporal Jess Iorg enlisted in the U S Army Air Corp in December, De-cember, 1942. He was first stationed sta-tioned at Albuquerque, New Mexico Mex-ico and later to Fort Dix, New Jersey, from there he was sent somewhere in the South Pacific. KENT JORGENSEN Lieutenant Kent Jorgensen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Jorgensen of Leota. He was stationed at the Islands at the time of Pearl Har- -bor and was brought back to the States in January to attend Officers Of-ficers candidate school which he completed in September and was then sent overseas again. In five months he partcipated hi 35 bombing missions over Sicily, Rome and the Rumanian Oil Fields. He was awarded the Distinguished service cross and also the Oak Leaf Clusters. Ma-rines. Pfc. Mathews, crossed the Pacific with the largest convoy ever to leave the United States for the battlefronts of the South Pacific. The ship on which he was stationed was attacked by Japanese planes and Pfc. Mathews Mat-hews was injured by shrapnel. He has been in Australia for some time. FARRELL J. Riley to take a course in horse shoeing and welding and received a diploma for sucessfully completing com-pleting this course. MARK L. OBERHANSLEY Sergeant Mark L. Oberhansley of Hayden, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Oberhansley, was promoted to his present rank at Muroc, California Cal-ifornia last September. He has been on over seas duty one year. He received the award of the first oak leaf cluster in June of 1943, for his paricipation in the intense air action against Germany and German occupied territory while serving with the eighth Air army. He trained at four different dif-ferent camps in New Mexico and in January 1943, he was sent to Jefferson Barracks, Missouri. This tactical night jump completed his parachute para-chute Jump Training which lasted last-ed the standard four weeks and which included jumping from the towers 250 ft. high and learning completely the tecinque of safe parachute jumping and landing.
