Show MT. EMMONS COUPLE TALK WITH SON IN BERLIN A long distance telephone call from Berlin, Germany was the Easter present of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hartman of Mt. Emmons. Speaking on the Berlin end of the international line was their son, Corporal Eugene Hartman who is stationed in Germany with the army of occupation. Arrangements for the call had been made by Corporal Hartman Hart-man several days in advance, and his parents in Mt. Emmons had been notified to stand by for a long distance telephone call which would come through at 8.00 a. m. on the morning of April 21. At the stipulated hour the circuit cir-cuit extending from inside Germany, Ger-many, across the Atlantic and spanning three-quarters of the North American continent was completed and the Hartman family fam-ily talked to an absent son for the first time in many long months. "It was the finest -Easter remembrance re-membrance imaginable; to hear Eugene's voice even if it had to travel half way around the world was wonderful," said Mrs. Hartman. |
