Show . . Granger Places School Proposal Before Secy. Ilrug Recent correspondence from Congressman Walter K. Granger to Secretary of Interior J. A. Krug indicates that consideration considera-tion of the proposed Union High School for eastern Duchesne and Western Uintah counties is still in progress. No congressional ac tion has been reported from the nation's capitol on the bill recently rec-ently presented by Mr. Granger, but excerpts from the Granger to Krug letter reveal that con-gressional con-gressional and administration talks are still underway. Following are quotations from Mr. Granger's letter to Secretary Krug: "In discussing this matter with the Indian. Service, they seem to be of the opinion that they could . . and would justify an appropria- ; tion sufficient to take care of the use which the Indians would make of this school. However, the amount which they suggest would not be sufficient to meet the needs. They suggest that, in all likelihood, the Bureau of the Budget would call upon your Department De-partment for a report and recommendation rec-ommendation on this legislation. Therefore, I am presenting the matter to you so that you will have an opportunity to make any investigation you desire, I assure you the need for this building is urgent. "A survey of the high school . . Duncungs in tnese two counties shows that they are old and in- : adequate, and must be replaced. Each of these counties, it seems to me, has gone the limit in rais- ; ing revenue for educational purposes. The Uintah County , School District has bonds outstanding out-standing of $160,000. The total : levey for district school purposes in 16V mills. . . T " "Duchesne County School Dis-. ; . trict has $67,500 in bonds outstanding. out-standing. The total tax levy for district, school purposes is 18 mills "To give you an idea of ih extent of government - ow.ru"' .' land in these two counties. I submit sub-mit the following: "The total area of Duchesne : County is approximately 2.07R . . 000 acres; the total area of Uintah Uin-tah County is approximately 2 -748,000 acres, making a granrt total of 4.826,000 acres.
