Show County Plans For Summer Weed Control Campaign The county weed committee met Friday, April 26th to determine deter-mine policy for the coming season sea-son to control noxious weeds, Evan Howell, chairman of the county weed committee announced announ-ced today. A crew of men, under the direction di-rection of James E. Bacon, county coun-ty weed supervisor, will engage in weed control all summer. Mr. Howell announced that facilities fa-cilities for chemical control of noxious weeds will be made available at cost to all farmers, on their request-. The"tounty has recently purchased a ; power spray gun capable of treating four acres a day.. This power equipment is to be used on large patches of weeds under the direction di-rection of the weed supervisor. Approximately IVi gallons of weedone, the new weed chemical, chemi-cal, will take care of one solid acre of weeds. Any farmer who desires to participate in the weed program should contact Mr. Bacon or the county agent. Five hand spray guns are available for use on small patches. The power equipment equip-ment is available for larger patches. To insure effective control, weeds should be sprayed while in a young, thrifty condition. Work at present is being done on the lower lands. Those who desire to have weed control work done on their farms should leave word with Mr. Bacon or at the county agent's office. County chemicals may be obtained ob-tained at the Wasatch Service Station at Roosevelt, at cost. |
