Show ARCADIA I Word was received by H. T. Richens that his son, Floyd Rich-ens Rich-ens who was with the U S 3rd army in Germany, had been kil-ed kil-ed on Friday, March 13. A few days previous he received word that his other son, Lowell is at an army hospital suffering from shell shock. A few months ago Mr Richens lost a son, Marion in France. Mr. and Mrs. Thurlo Richens of Sunnyside and son, Dallas, visited a few days with H. T. Richens, Thurlo's father. Relief society was held at the home of Vera Larson. The lesson was presented by Mrs. Elsie Neilson. Mr. and Mrs. M. G. Shields and Mrs. Elsie Bird made a business busi-ness trip to Duchesne Tuesday. Thursday evening Mrs. Margaret Mar-garet Ross had at dinner complimentary compli-mentary to Lt. Kenneth Zirker, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Zirker: Mr. and Mrs. Julius Zirker, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Zirker, Mr. and Mrs. John Zirker, Mr. and Mrs. M. G. Shields, Miss Leona Shields. Joe Shields, Stanley and R. G. Ross. A dance and party was given in honor of Lt. Kenneth Zirker of the Marines, and Pfc. Lavon Horrocks, Thursday night in the ward hall. Lt. Zirker left for his base at! Ocean Side, California Friday morning. He was accompanied ' by Mr. and Mrs. John Zirker and Miss Leona Shields as far as Salt Lake City. Primary conference was held Sunday, March 29 at the Ward house. Mrs. Helen Odekirk, Stake President was present and gave some timely remarks. Mrs. Gladys Ross who has been president presi-dent of the ward primary for several years was released with her counselors. Mrs. Bessie Lusty Lus-ty was made president with Mrs. Deana Richens first counselor. Mr. and Mrs. White of Duchesne Du-chesne were sacrament meeting visitors Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Reed Fietkau of Sprinville were visiting Mr. and Mrs. Frank Horrocks Sunday. Miss Lorilee Hair of Duchesne was visiting Mr. and Mrs. Loryn Ross Saturday and Sunday. j Lynn Ross received word from his son. Pvt. Delmar, that he had arrived in Italy. Mr. and Mrs. Wanless Shields were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Leandrew Gilbert Sunday. Miss Leona Shields was a dinner din-ner guests of Mrs. Barbara Gilbert Gil-bert at the home of Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Lusty Sunday. Mr. and M.rs. Alex Murry of Bluebell were visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. M. G. Shields this week. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Ross and Darrell Josie were served a lovely love-ly dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Ross, complimentary to Jack Josie's birthday. Jack is living with Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Ross. Mrs, Elsie Neilson received word that her husband, S 1-c Vernal Neilson had been transferred trans-ferred to a base some where on the Mariannias Islands, and that l he had been confined to a hospital hospit-al with a serious skin disease called jungle rot. Word was also received by George Merrit that his brother, Scott Merrit, who was wounded in France in February had died a few days ago in an army hospital hos-pital some where overseas. Mrs. Eliza J. Gilbert is in Salt Lake City visiting her sister whom she has not seen for a few years. Alma Larson is in Mayfield suffering from a severe stroke. He and his brother, C. A. Larson left some time ago for an extensive exten-sive trip through Arizona and California and it was on their way back that Alma became ill. His brother, C. A. Larson is with him. |
