Show City Tennis Court Ready For Opening On September 24 THE pouring of five more concrete slabs will complete the new tennis court, officers of the Roosevelt Lions club and th2 Jaycces, sponsors of the project pro-ject announced Tuesday. Made up of three courts of six cement slabs each, the project will be-officially be-officially dedicated with an outdoor out-door dance the evening of Friday, Fri-day, September 24. Construction of the court, which will serve for tennis, dancing dan-cing and ice skating, has run well over the estimated expenditure, expendi-ture, and funds from the opening open-ing dance will be used to pay for completing the court and purchasing equipment. ' The tennis court project was undertaken several weeks ago as a civic project. by the Lions club and the Junior Chamber of Commerce. Originally, it was to have been completed for dedication dedica-tion during the Indian Days celebration. cele-bration. i i i BOTH members of the Lions club and the Jaycees have contributed con-tributed money, time and effort toward the building of the tennis ten-nis court, which when completed will cost in the neighborhood of $2500. The work has been under the direction of Bill Murdock, representing' rep-resenting' the Jaycees, as construction con-struction chairman; Bert Gardner, Gard-ner, Jaycee finance committee chairman; Rube Larsen; Lions club vice president and member of the civic improvement committee; com-mittee; Howard Ivory, Lions club civic improvement chairman, chair-man, -who is acting president of the Lions club in the absence of Dr. C.
