Show Leeton-Bennett txssxssxsxsxsxsxsxssi The party given Jast Monday night at Bennett for Master Sgt. Chalmer Workman and Ray Haslem was a big success and people from Neola, Whiterooks, Lapoint, Roosevelt and Bennett, attended the party. Master Sgt. Chalmer Workman, leaves the 18th for California. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Workman, of Roosevelt. Ray Haslem left Saturday for Salt Lake City, from which place he will leave Sunday morning for his training base, he is in the Merchant Marines, he is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clair Haslem. A program was rendered, the evening was spent dancing, and refreshments were served by Adaline Hartle, Francis Hor-rocks Hor-rocks and Fern Houston. Music furnished for the dance was by Wilford Workman, Arda Caldwell Cald-well and Thursa Sprouse of I Lapoint. Miss Ora Hamaker, came home this week to be with her mother for a while. She has been working at Ogden in defense work for the past year. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Murphy Mur-phy and family have moved to Neola to make their home their many, friends regret seeing them leave, but wish them much success in their new home. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hall, left Saturday night for Salt Lake City, to visit their daughter Carl Jean. They will return home Sunday night. Mrs. Anna Luce, of Salt Lake City, and aunt of John and Clair Haslem is visiting with their families for a few days. She will return to her home the first part of the week. Mr. and Mrs. Walt Penfold received word from their son that he would be home on a furlough around the 20th of this month. Mr. and Mrs. Mc-rvc Bolton and family were Sunday afternoon after-noon visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs Marion Mitchell. Miss Elna Hartle, entertained a number of her friends at her home Thursday night, honoring Ray Haslem before lie left for the service. The evening was spent in playing games. Honored guests were, Ray, Joice, and Wayne Haslem, Vclois Long, Byron Horrocks, Lynn , Marie and Verl Haslem, Byron, Lola and Arthur Bolton, Edith Pen-fold Pen-fold and the hostess, Elna Hartle. At an early hour her mother, Adaline Hartle served a hot plate lunch, ice cream and cookies. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lindley and children of Provo, are spending a week with her parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Houston. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hall returned return-ed home Monday morning from Salt Lake City where they visited visit-ed with their daughter, Carl Jean. Mrs. J. L. Workman is visiting in Roosevelt for a few days at the home of her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Workman. Friday night Miss Joice Haslem Has-lem gave a party for her brother, Ray. Games were played, and those present were, Marie and Lynn Haslem, Byron and Arthur Bolton, Lloyd and Nile Hamaker, Edith Penfold, Elna Hartle, Velois Long and Miss Joice Haslem, hostess. Her mother, Doris Haslem served refreshments. Those attending the funeral of Mr. Mecham at Glines ward Wednesday, from Bennett were, Mr. and Mrs. John Haslem and family, Mr. and Mrs. Clair Haslem and family, Mr. and Mrs. James Earnshaw Sr. Mr. and Mrs. Ramah Earnshaw, Mrs. Fred Hartle and daughter, Rcva Hall. Mr. Mecham is a brothe-in-law to John and Clair Haslem and his wife was formerly, Gladys Haslem of Bennett. Weston Hamaker left this week for outside points, and to consult a doctor, he had his leg hurt while working in the mine. |
