Show ; AWARDED SILVER STAR Lieutenant Andrew Glenn Wahlquist has been awarded the - Silver Star, for gallantry in action on March 21, 1945, during an attack by his company of enemy fortifications in Germany. Wahlquist moved moved anong his men, urging them forward, and when the second platoon lost its commander, command-er, he took over and organizing both platoons, continued the advance. ad-vance. He personally knocked1 out an enemy 88 millimeter with hand grenades, thus enabling the entire company to succeed in its mission. Liet. Wahlquist's superb coolness, fearlessness and leadership leader-ship under fire reflected the highest traditions of the military i service. Lt. Wahlquist is the son of Matilda K. Wahlquist, formerly of Ballard, who now resides in Salt Lake City. His wife, Clara - -Morrill Wahlquist, and daughter are now living at Tridell, Utah. A brother, Lt. Grant Wahlquist, a pilot in the Army Air Forces is now serving overseas. |
