RECEIVES COMMISSION n Jj5 Lt. Nielsen F. Malnar Second Lieutenant Milton S. jj Nielsen, son of Mr. and Mrs O. E. (ij- Nielsen of Bridgeland received his wings and commission as a second lieutenant in the Army Air Forces at the Douglas Army K-S Air Field, Arizona, May 23rd, graduate of advanced pilot train- ! ing class 44-E. Lieut. Nielsen graduated from Roosevelt High air school and was attending Utah & State college at the time he en- tered the military service. He a- spent last week end home on fur- lough and left Wednesday for i Deming, New Mexico to'report A for duty. His parents attended the graduation exercises. Frank Malnar, son of Mrs. Mary Malnar of Neola re- turned home May 18th after . spending the past 23 months at zl the Aleutian Islands. Thursday for Salt Lake City to L.tf visit with his three sisters where a party will be given in his hon-w hon-w or. Carlyle $lt' Reynolds, has just- completed his five month course of Army Air Forces instruction at the University Un-iversity of Nebraska, and has now been transferred to Bakers Field, California " to begin his 0. pre-flight training. I pVI ai been attached to the Sn?1 Personnel since that IN THE NAVY Irvin Miles, Fireman Second class, son of Mr. and Mrs, Ben Miles, spent a three day furlough in Roosevelt the fore part of the week. He left Monday last for his station at Bremerton, Washington Wash-ington where he will be assigned to his ship. ENTERS NAVY Bob Huish, husband of Areva Huish and son of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Huish, left to report for the U S Navy Tuesday, May 23. Bob graduated from the school of Pharmacy at the University of Southern California and has since worked at the Huish Drug store with his father. He is now at San Diego, California. RETURNS TO CAMP Private Deloy Baumgaertel left Monday for Camp Bowie, Texas to report for duty after spending a few days furlough in Roosevelt visiting with his parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. John Baumgaertel. Baum-gaertel. Pvt. Baumgaertel entered enter-ed the Army November, 1943 and is with the mechanized Armored Ar-mored division. F-3 FJ. WITH THE MARINES Victor Henry Wathen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry A. Wathen of Bluebell was inducted into the armed service in the selective service draft for May. He recently recent-ly returned from a mission for the L D S church and has been farming for himself and helping his father farm. He is now at San Diego, California taking his "boot" training with the Marine Corps. |
