Show Contestant I rww, ?xfy- - Joyce Rogers Miss Joyce Rogers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Milan R. Rogers, of Upalto, will represent Roosevelt Roose-velt high school in the Pioneer Sweetheart contest at Oden, to be held June 27 and 28. ' Selected for the contest by her own classmates on the basis of personality, scholarship and horsemanship, Miss Rogers will compete for the title with girls representing 29 high schools in Utah, Idaho, Neyada'and Wyoming. Wyom-ing. The winner will be designate ed Pioneer Sweetheart pf Og-den's Og-den's Centennial Pioneer Days celebration, July 18 to 24, and wijl appear in the grand entries of the rodeo shows with Gene Autry, cowboy movie star. The winner's award will be a tip as Autry's guest tp Madispn Square Garden rpdcq shpws in September, where she again will ride with the popular movie star. The expenses of a chaper-one chaper-one of her own choice also will be paid. The girls placing second and third in the Ogden contests will be awarded a year's scholarship scholar-ship to Weber College at Qgden. "The Pipneer Sweetheart" 'will ride in Ogden's Centennial paK ades. Julv 23 and 24. arid will take a prominent part in other programs pf the period. She will be given a western outfit worth $200 While in Ogden, candidates will be taken tp Snow Basin ski resort for a dinner-outing, to the Ogden Golf and Country club for breakfast and to other places of interest where the contests will be centered. |
