Show Legion Women Set Postwar Plans Mrs. Bee Jordan, Mrs. Amber Page and Mrs. Clista Angus of the local chapter of the Legion Auxiliary attended the special day's program held in Salt Lake City Monday honoring the National Na-tional President, Mrs. Charles B. Gilbert of Norwich, Conn., who was on a tour of the western division. di-vision. Mrs. Gilbert was guest speaker speak-er at a banquet held Monday evening ev-ening on the roof garden of the Hotel Utah. "No one",she stated, "knows belter than does the American woman, with a husband hus-band in the last war and a son in the present conflict, just what woman are called upon to do in wartime". As part of the auxiliary's three-point program, she spoke of the auxiliary's support of a peace program and of the proposed pro-posed universal military training train-ing of young men. She added the vital necessity of nurses joining join-ing the service and urged cadet nurses to enter hospital work at once on completion of their training. She did not forget to mention that the W A Cs need many more volunteers for technical tech-nical work. In a thousand and one ways, Mrs. Gilbert related, American women have helped lighten the burden of our fighting fight-ing men. |
