Show Cassie Dean Feted On 32nd Birthday Mrs. Cassie Dean , celebrated her 82nd birthday, December 18, with a family party at the home of her daughter, - Mrs. Pearl MoysfrT Later in the afternoon she was guest of honor at a reception re-ception at the Jim Collinghani residence with the ladies of the Baptist Church acting as hostesses. hostess-es. Mrs. Dean was born in Eastern Kansas, a daughter of Jacob and Catherine Springer. The family moved from Kansas to Colorado, where Mrs. Dean met and married mar-ried Perry Dean, in 1889, at Tel-uride. Tel-uride. They resided at Cedars Edge, Colo, until 1905, when they moved to Vernal In 1907 they homestcaded on Little Water Wa-ter above Lapoint, later moving to Ft. Duchesne and then to In- . dian Bench. Mr, Dean has been active as a farmer and livestock raiser until his retirement three years ago when he and Mrs. Dean established their residence at Roosevelt. Mrs. Dean is the mother of five children: Mrs. Grace Phillips, Phil-lips, San Diego, Calif.; Mrs. Delia Burton, Lapoint; Mrs. Pearl Moysh and Robert Dean. Roosevelt; Roose-velt; Mrs. Bessie Turner. Ogden. She has 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. It is interesting to note that Mrs. Dean's mother attended school at Nauvoo, 111. with Joseph Smith, and Mrs. Dean has in her possession letters which Joseph Smith wrote to her mother. She also has. a book carved from a piece of stone taken tak-en from the Nauvoo Temple following fol-lowing its destruction by fire. |
