Show Early Plans Laid For Observance of 'Community Xmas ' ROOSEVELT Community Christmas this year promises a series of entertaining events starting Saturday evening, December De-cember 11, when the holiday street lights are turned on and a program is presented at the intersection in-tersection of Main and Lagoon streets. Christmas carols and a short entertainment will inaugurate inaugu-rate the festivities. On Wednesday evening, December De-cember 22. the Roosevelt elementary ele-mentary school will present a Yulelide program under the direction di-rection of Glen C. Garfield, principal. The following evening, December 23, the L.D.S. amusement amuse-ment hall will be the scene of community jollification. Here the community Christmas Christ-mas tree will be lighted and Santa San-ta Claus will put in his traditional tradi-tional appearance with gifts of candy and nuts for the kiddies. A short program will also be featured. At a meeting held in the Roosevelt Roos-evelt municipal building, Tuesday Tues-day evenine .the following of ficers and committees were selected se-lected to handle this year's celebration: cele-bration: i i i CHAIRMAN Hollis Hullin-ger; Hullin-ger; secretary-treasurer Virginia Vir-ginia Burton; finance Verland Nelson, Horace Allred, J. C. Zimmerman, Harry Sprouse and Wayne Malin; publicity Homer P. Edwards and Irene Fretwell. Santa Claus Bliss Eldredge; official opening of the season and street program Ellen Rawlings, Father Wendell and Rev. Chas. Ray: street lighting and decorationClem deco-rationClem Labrum; decorating- of trees Mutual Improvement Improve-ment associations and the Junior Culture club. Preparation of gift packages the Primary associations. Relief societies and the Ladies Fish and Game club; home decorations and awards Paul Murphy; trees Norman Murphy. Five prizes for the best decorated dec-orated homes will be awarded in the following amounts: $5, $7.50, $10, $12.50 and $15.. Judges Jud-ges who award the prizes are to be selected from out of town and will view the decorations Saturday Satur-day evening, December 18. Names of the winners will be published the week of Christmas. Civic clubs and organizations participating in the celebration are the Primaries, Relief societies socie-ties and Mutual Improvement associations as-sociations of the two Roosevelt wards, the American Legion Auxiliary, Business and Professional Profes-sional Women's club, the Junior Culture club, Ladies' Fish and Game club, the Roosevelt Jay-cees, Jay-cees, Commercial club and the City Council. |
