Show abandoned baby found at monroe hearing tuesday gives custody to juvenile and child welfare authorities partly sheltered by pine tree limbs which touched the ground on the border of the sidewalk a six and one quarter pound baby boy was found in front of the home biome of lee gould of monroe at a m sunday and is now receiving ce iving care at the home of dr spencer ellsworth of monroe subject to action by the juvenile court in whose custody it was placed following order of the sixth judicial district court at a hearing tuesday which found the baby to be deserted and abandoned the case will be transferred from the juvenile court to the state child welfare department said the district juvenile judge C W powell jr the state department had contacted the district judge and the juvenile judge about the matter monday prior to the lc rearing aring at the hearing tuesday mr gould testified that he found the baby at about a m when he heart heard it whimper after he had passed through his gate to go to his fathers place to do chores the baby was taken to the gould home and later to the adjoining home of mr and mrs byron jensen where dr ellsworth and a nurse mrs johnson were called at the hearing dr ellsworth stated that the baby was probably six to ten hours old when it was found the baby had received little care but was wrapped in a piece of bushn which covered all but the fa face ceDr dr ellsworth was given authority to do anything necessary for the health of the infant and it is reported p arted to be in good condition glyde webb deputy county sheriff who was called to investigate and mrs jen jensen en testified of finding two tivo footprints made by a ladies 1 e s walking shoe approaching from the street near the ditch bank by which the baby had been placed investigations were made by sheriff clarence smith and deputy sheriff webb no identification was discovered the hearing bearing was conducted by district D attorney 0 R before district judge henry D 1 hayes ayes |
