Show G FOH TO 01 EXTENDED school board state director citizens discuss plan the matter of extending the program of vocational education in the state of utah with special reference to the sevier district was discussed by dr irvin S noall director of vocational education in the state at a meeting of the sevier district board of education and representative citizens who had been invited to attend the session which was held here monday the federal government through a special appropriation authorized by congress last spring increased allotment from to for vocational training to start in 1937 it will be necessary for the state or school districts to raise for vocational education in order to make them eligible to receive the federal aid this however will mean no great change in financing as districts where vocational teachers have been employed have heretofore paid teachers salaries during the regular school term it will make possible however the extension of summer work which is financed by federal funds it may make possible the addition of training in distributing occupations and home making trades each district is being invited to make suggestions relative to its particular nee needs do for the sevier district a coarr committee at is s t to be appointed with superintendent erin A J ashman as chairman to make a survey and recommend to the state board courses desired in the district one of the main features of the program is to olan elan for boys who graduate from high hi h school to continue study in trades on which they worked in school hool making it possible for them sc to 0 become employable |
