Show Honored By Legislature By GARY R. BLODGETT Daniel F. Lawrence, of Bountiful, Bounti-ful, v. ho was director of the Division Divi-sion of Water Resources, Utah Department De-partment of Natural Resources for 17 years, was honored recently by the State Legislature and Gov. Norman H. Bangerter. A COMMENDATION from the State Legislature and signed by the governor commented Mr. Lawrence Lawr-ence for his 28 years of state service. ser-vice. Mr. Lawrence retired in January. During the 28 years with the state water agency and its predecessor, prede-cessor, the Utah Power and Water Board, Mr. Lawrence directed the construction of more than 600 water wa-ter development projects throughout through-out the state, including more than 50 dams. HE HAS participated on several interstate councils and forums on water matters, including membership member-ship on the Upper Colorado River Commission and the Bear River Commission. Matheson's representative on the seven-state Colorado River committee to advise the Secretary of the Intenoon manage... -reservoirs in the Colorado River System. He also has been Interstate Inter-state Streams Commissioner for Utah. PRIOR TO his long career with Utah state water agencies, Mr. Lawrence was an engineer with the U S Bureau of Reclamation, U.i. Army Corps of Engineers, and the U S Soil Conservation Service. He was born in Idaho and raised on irrigated farms in the Upper Snake River Valley in Shelley, American Falls, and Aberdeen, Ida. He has lived for the past 26 years with his wife, Connie and children at 148 W. 2800 S., Bountiful. Mr. Lawrence is a 1941 civil engineering en-gineering graduate of Utah State University. He is a licensed Registered Reg-istered Professional Engineer and land surveyor in Utah and Wyoming. Wyom-ing.
