Show TS BY THE TAX commission 70 persons killed and 1159 injured in utah first six months of 1935 A traffic accident summary released by the state tax commission shows that there were in the state of utah for the first six months of 1935 a total of 1092 traffic accidents 59 of which resulted in deaths the ft first t six months of 1934 saw rs traffic accidents sixty ol of which resulted in fatalities during the six months period of 1935 70 persons were killed and 1159 injured of the persons killed two were children up to four years of age to 10 children from 5 to 0 o 14 years 11 persons from 15 35 to 24 41 from 24 21 to 64 and 6 ver over 65 years of age of those injured 56 were up to four years of oc age 5 to 14 15 to 24 25 to 64 and 42 over 65 in collisions with pedestrians accidents were reported of which 25 resulted in fatalities 25 26 persons were killed two of them under four years of age 7 of them 5 to 14 3 15 to 24 12 25 to 64 and 2 over 65 were injured 18 of them under 4 69 5 to 14 26 15 to 24 56 25 to 64 and 10 over 65 in collisions with other motor vehicles there were accidents 9 of which were fatal resulted in comparatively high property damage 10 persons were killed one of them in the age group 5 to 14 1 15 to 24 and 8 25 to 64 persons were injured 25 of them up to 4 years of age 54 5 to 14 15 to 24 25 to 64 and 26 over 65 there were 13 collisions with railroad trains 5 resulting fatally and 2 with property damage 7 persons from 25 to 64 years of age were killed 2 over 65 were killed 5 between 15 and 24 were injured and 12 between 25 and 64 were injured there were 14 collisions with electric cars in which one person was waa killed 16 injured and property J damage reported in 4 cases i there were 47 collisions with i bicycles four of which were fatal and in which 45 persons were injured and property damage reported in one case only one collision of horse drawn vehicle was reported in which one person was injured forty six collisions with fixed objects were reported with one fatality 54 persons injured and 18 resulting in property damage the above figures undoubtedly edly fail to account for many minor accidents yet they are sufficiently serious in number and fatalities to warrant every citizen giving greater care to observance of traffic rules in a new form sent to traffic officers to submit reports to the state tax commission there is a space in which to write the number of the operators license of the drivers involved iii arf traffic accidents under the now new drivers license law which goes into effect january 1 1936 the tax commission is required to keep a record of all the accidents in which each individual licensed to drive a motor vehicle is involved |
