Show WILDCAT WAILS by R H S REPORTER richfield defeats monroe 13 0 on november loth at a large crowd of local football enthusiasts were gathered around the R H S gridiron they had come to see sec the old traditional rivals battling for supremacy on the gridiron A team with red and blue jerseys and socks was running through a few signals out on one side of the field and anyone would readily recognize them as the R H S wildcats while on the other side a team in red and white jerseys were warming up this team proved to be the red devils of the monroe high richfield was favored to win and above this favoritism was a mad determination to win monroe being the underdogs under dogs were 1 just as determined richfield kicked off it was a great kick and monroe was off with the ball but richfield had stopped them before they had advanced far monroe punted their first play richfield took the punt and ran down the field with a gain of ten yards placing the ball in the middle of the field the wildcats made a steady gain down the field with reverse plays and end runs monroe called time out but this stop the advance of our team in a couple of plays they placed the ball in a scoring position and then took it over for a touchdown on a line buck A place kick for an extra point was blocked richfield kicked to monroe and held them deep in their territory for the rest of the quarter in the second quarter monroe stiffened and held their defense tighter but the ball was in the possession of richfield most of the time sellers broke away for some good gains while other members of our team did some good line smashing and running at periods during this quarter the game was loosely played but neither team was able to score the third quarter richfield took the ball and marched down the field with it they used reverse plays and line bucks to put the ball in scoring position then they took it over on a line buck monroe came forth with a passing attack and completed many passes for short gains they tried reverse plays but were usually stopped in the fourth quarter sellers again got away for some good runs around the end giving monroe two or three bad scares coons made good gains over the lines but richfield was unable to score monroe kept using their passing attack completing a large number of their passes but they lacked the punch and push to put the ball over the game ended 13 to 0 in favor of richfield girls go in for football who said football was a boys game 7 this statement is evidently incorrect for the girls of the ever ready club have challenged the pavant davant girls to a football game which is to be held thursday afternoon on the R H S campus paul G packard the once famous football coach is the E Rs and our brilliant dentist tommy wright has gone in for coaching in a big way with the Pa this is going to be one of the biggest events of the season and if you dont believe it you ought to see them out there diligently practicing in their vivid array of costumes its going to be a great game folks and you miss it watch out you wildcats of the R H S the girls may soon take your place doing great things nowadays matinee dance is success last thursday a matinee dance was held in the gymnasium of the i richfield high school it was sponsored by the future farmers of america to complete the amount needed for expenses to send raymond malouf to kansas city to compete in the national F F A oratorical contest the amount cleared at this dance was 18 which is unusually large for a matinee dance the F F A wishes to thank those who played in the orchestra for contributing their services the dance was thoroughly enjoyed by the large crowd that participated undoubtedly the large attendance was due to the keen competition regarding the pepo pep o gra graph ph the pep o graph idea was originated last year and has helped considerably to inspire thesta the students with enthusiasm regarding attendance at games dances etc it is a method of recording the percentage of those present on a graph the four classes competing come on you seniors lets get ahead old grad Is assembly speaker friday it at eleven the student body presented an assembly in the high school auditorium which delighted a large audience many graduates of former years attended the events of the assembly were selection band prayer norma brindley song richard gurr and anji leon bell reading enid Poul poulson soa song olive lloyd dance betty sevy yells led by grant peterson and murray maughan pep talk alton christensen a former graduate of the richfield Rich neld high school it has been remarked that the assemblies of this year have improved greatly upon those of previous years and we can truthfully say that this assembly only helps to prove the statement the students are arc looking forward to many others as delightful |
