mrs joseph L asbury saturday evening at the table which held covers for 12 was centered with an antique silver flower bowl containing yellow rosebuds and asparagus fern at each side were silver candelabra holding deep ivory candles the lace banquet cloth over gold was a wedding gift to mrs asburyy As burys grandparents over 60 years ago A patriotic motif was carried out in in nu nut t cups honoring governor dern who is commander in chief of the utah national guard and small emblems embellished the dessert rose sweet peas were used in the living room after the dinner hour governor dern dem and the gentlemen present attended the boxing bouts at the new armory and the ladies retired to the living room the party then attended the military ball after which a charming reception was held at the home of captain and d mrs J R barker those present at the dinner included included governor and mrs george H dern captain and mrs airs J R barker mr air and mrs jas M peterson mayor and mrs W L warner mr and mrs A J ashman and the host and hostess the affair also celebrated the wedding anniversary of mr and mrs asbury governor and mrs airs dern dem were guests at the asbury home during their visit to richfield rec reception S eption honors governor and national guard officers the reception at which captain and mrs airs james R barker entertained at their home immediately following the military ball saturday night in honor of governor and mrs airs george H dern and VIS visiting officers of the utah national guard was a delightfully arranged social event roses were used in in the living room and the dining room of the home was enhanced by a prettily appointed table which aas was centered with pink roses and ivory candles in silver holders wives of officers of battery batter E presided at the table and assisted in serving thirty five guests were entertained A prettily appointed b bridge r i d g e luncheon was presided over by mrs guy lewis at her home thursday afternoon in honor of her birthday anniversary sweet peas in crystal baskets graced the small tables which held covers for 28 while carnations and roses were also used in the rooms the tables were later arranged for bridge at which mrs sterling K heppler mrs airs B B burmester mrs mi F G marches and mrs airs olena won honors mrs clair ford a recent bride was honored at a miscellaneous shower thursday evening at the home of her parents judge and mrs airs N J bates with mrs J R hood and miss alto alta bates as hostesses the guests included members of the pavant davant club of which the bride is vice president and a few other f friends progressive games were featured miss crystal beutler and miss dorothy winning awards at a late hour a dainty lunch was serve served d with covers laid for 35 guests program mrs airs fillmore gave an explanation of the work planned for the year which will consist of a study of miscellaneous literary selections it wa was s announced that the date for the fe february meeting has not been definitely scheduled but the principal in part of the program has been n planned it will be the reading of a play by mrs airs W A gonser former instructor of dramatic art
