| Show battery E boys have praise for big encampment battery E returned to Ri richfield clifield monday after a two necks encampment camp ment at camp W G williams jordan narrows although the battery brought home no cups cup this year the camp was one of the best the men ever attended and the they Y are to be commended for the hine spirit and hard there are 58 enlisted men from sevier county in camp the largest number ever attending sixty three officers and enlisted men representing the various batteries of the regiment forma d the camp T the e outstanding feature at camp was the night problem the the regiment moved into position after dark and fired one shot from each cadi battery as soon as in pos position altion battery E fired the first ant the evening entertainments alone were worth the effort of attending camp ogden salt lake spanish fork cedar city and richfield presented programs the retreat parades at each evening were very successful and impie sed visitors at the camp such dignitaries as smoot colton acting governor M H welling and others were amazed at seeing parades so imposing the thad battalion headed beaded by major henry E beal and his staff was the outstanding battalion in the regiment and captain J M deweese was loud and open in his praise of their work sergeant eldon peterson again this year won a medal in boxing in his weight class max sly and klar ogden each lost a very close decision in their weights battery E had bad an organized baseball team but lost their first game and were eliminated from competition sergeant ainsworth should also be mentioned for liis his fine work as athletic director for the battery the next drill of the battery will be on july 4 |
