from the high school to use for a gymnasium now the gymnasium has been drained olt off a tie new floor put in ind and everything I 1 is in readiness A big lance dance friday was the opening fete after 1 a I three dears ears wait and the students are glad to welcome their old again the stage did they help who why eNe everyone emerone rone knows tile the board of education is ih always willing to help november 14 1 a I committee consisting of ruby thurber mr air smith and kenneth isbell from the high school ee cutie committee met with kith them to discuss hR cus the possibilities of remodeling the high school stage at 12 30 10 noon the boari board of education and the committee went over the pr problem 0 blem at the high school building a and nd discussed the possibilities from several viewpoints points after considering the 4 lem the board decided to give the R H S 00 and to monroe and salina 65 00 each these sums are to be spent in remodeling the stages of the three schools the changes change and improvements of the stage at richfield will cost about the school will stand the balance of the expense 95 00 the work to be lone done is cutting a stairway from the stage down to t the dreg dressing ing rooms room buying a new cur tam installing electrical footlights and rearranging the seats besides beside fixing the stage the board allowed enough money to put seats in the bvm to make new baskets and to re paint the walls ails thanks to the board they helped the three high schools to realize ambitions long dreamed of the fint year this the first vear ear the R H S has had new s in the reaper it the first year monroe has der r f feared e ate d us in football but this will be the first year vear that the faculty will present a pla it will be the first year for many of the members to appear on the stage as thespians what could be more fitting than to have hae them present the play which was chosen choren the first year it is a comedy of the first year of married life ever ebery member of the faculty will have a part to play the three leading characters are dick mr I 1 packard tommy mr larsen grace MS miss nelson rehearsals will start this week and the he will be presented sometime in the middle of december the faculty has already felt the need of a new curtain for the high school stage they will therefore turn the funds in for that pur purpose opening easily be called the most successful of the school year ear and it its success is partly due to the fact that it was nas the opening of the high school chool gymnasium which has not been it in use for three years the hall was crowded with richfield students as ag well as many students from the monroe high school the music made everyone forget hiar hi troubles in such a merry meny dancing crow crowd d it take long to wear off the roughness of the new gym gm floor A dance like this was enough to the promise crowd some me very successful parties and good times time s this winter not so slow the nf i dmn ing is i not usually granted sophomores but this vear near ganv of them have hae been alile able to do so go the reason they are not allowed to take typewriting is to give the upper classmen clasemen class men the full benefit of all the typewriters this vear ear however boeer the demand fo for typewriters has necessitated the purchase of five fhe new typewriters making a total of thirty in all thus allowing the sophomores a cha chance n ce they the N are t to 0 be congratulated on the splendid Dlen did progress s s they ila have e made for they are all ke keeping ep up with their classes and some are going ahead of many of the higher classmen clasemen class men if this rapid continued progress is sophomores may have hane a representative at the state conte contest t which is so memorable because of th the e great success the students student had there last bear ear the R H S hopes to be able to keep the loving cups which will ull become the permanent of the chool if won
